  • 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners'' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Imitation Clear Vanilla Extract, 8 oz.

Recipe Detail


  1. In large bowl, beat shortening and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed 2-3 minutes or until well combined.
  2. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well between each, until icing appears smooth. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry.
  3. Add milk, peppermint extract, salt and vanilla. Beat at medium speed 3-4 minutes or until light and fluffy.
